Pokemon Go to help you lose weight and get fit!

So I have chosen Pokemon Go as my first feature of current exercise crazes and before you say something along the lines of "How the hell is Pokemon Go an exercise app?" let me explain...

Pokemon Go took the world by storm just over a week or so ago and I obviously was unable to turn down the opportunity to relive my childhood and have a play to try and Catch'em all... Again. Once I had delved into the game a little further I found that there was something called Eggs as part of it, these eggs are in categories by distance. There are 2km, 5km and 10km ones. While my fitness running app will map my route, speed, elevation, heart rate (if I fancied), distinguish between my fast and slow miles, tell me how much fluid I lost along the way (wonder how accurate that is) and god knows how much more; I don't necessarily want all that information every time I run. Sometimes I just want to run for the sake of running and someone else may just want to try running for the sake of giving it a go, the average human often does not need to know how much they may have sweat over a set distance.

So I propose the use of Pokemon go, should you be that way inclined, as a fitness tracking tool for the distance of your run, brisk walk or cycle! So if you wanted to go out and try a 2km run just do not go home until your 2km egg has hatched and you have been rewarded with a new Pokemon! The same goes for the 5km and 10km eggs, just go half the distance one way then back again!

Obviously this is not going to be to everybody's taste but if Pokemon is your thing and you need a little incentive then why not use the reward of a Pokemon or two to get you outside and moving!

ALWAYS BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS, DO NOT WATCH YOUR PHONE INSTEAD OF YOUR PATH AS YOU WILL PROBABLY INJURE YOURSELF AND IT IS NOT A COOL STORY THAT YOU GOT INJURED WHILE HUNTING POKEMON!

Happy hunting...
